Ric had taken a family trip to California when they discovered delicious wood fired pizza. His father, who had experience in the restaurant business wanted to bring that style of pizza back to his hometown in Chicago. The family opened the first location of Bricks Wood Fired Pizza and Cafe 2011.
Ric grew up making pizza at Bricks while continuing his education in college and is now the general counsel for the restaurant.
Brick’s Wood Fired Pizza is a Neapolitan style pizzeria but they also serve salads, soups and sandwiches.

Bryan Mull is the digital marketing guy over at Mail Shark but don’t let that title fool you. Bryan is also heavily involved with their direct mail campaigns for their many clients.
I wanted to have someone on the show that works in direct mail everyday and really knows what’s currently going on in the market. I understand after talking with so many successful pizza entrepreneurs, that direct mail is still a big part of their marketing efforts.
With all the technology and social media sites available, restaurant owners can become overwhelmed. They tend to start and stop many different avenues. Even with everything digitally available to you, there is still a need to get information into your customers actual mailbox and not just the mailbox they carry in their pocket.
Bryan and I go over what’s working with mailing campaigns and he also gives us some tips to make the campaigns we may be already doing, work even better.
